Dr. Aiham Al Ashhab

Chief of Medicine, St. Vincent's Medical Center

If you ask most patients and staff at St. Vincent’s Medical Center who their favorite doctor is, they would tell you Dr. Aiham Al Ashhab or "Dr. Al" as he is affectionately known. Dr. Al Ashhab brings his energy and generous spirit tirelessly each morning with a big smile, a “Good Morning Team!” and a large coffee. His passion for medicine and caring for others is always apparent.

Dr. Al Ashhab is Chief of Medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Southside campus. He arrived in the States 2002, after studying medicine in Syria at Damascus University. He received training at Yale University in New Haven and Temple University in Philadelphia before beginning his Internal Medicine rotation at Case Western University in Cleveland. Aiham began his life in Jacksonville in 2008 at UF Shands. In 2013, he then joined the St. Vincent’s family and was soon elected as Chief of Medicine.

Over the years, he has been able to move his siblings and parents safely from Syria to the Jacksonville area. He lives and loves to spend time with family and friends. He loves to be active enjoying many sports such as soccer, beach volleyball, ping pong or playing pool. Aiham is constantly moving – you will never find him on the sidelines. He enjoys any activity that involves competition. Healthcare is his passion but dancing is a close second. His passion for many types of music is evident when you see him on the dance floor. He lives life to the fullest and enjoys traveling near and far, exploring new places and cultures.

He is beyond excited to participate in this event this year and to raise awareness for Jacksonville Children’s Chorus.
