Donnie Horner

Donnie Horner III is a business and community leader whose dedication to public service spans numerous nonprofit enterprises and civic initiatives focused on making Northeast Florida a better place for individuals, families, and visitors. 

Since 2014, he has worked in national sales at Beaver Street Fisheries where he is responsible for developing and executing a dynamic sales plan for several Top 50 Supermarket chains.  An experienced sales and marketing professional, Donnie has hosted clients for several events including The Players Championship and Jacksonville Jaguars home and away games.  Previously, Donnie was Vice President of Business Development for MainOcean Port Services, a Jacksonville-based startup company launched in 2011 that now has offices in several southeastern states.  He was the third employee at the company.

Donnie is Chairman of The River Club in downtown Jacksonville and is a member of the United States Naval Academy’s Council of Class Presidents representing the class of 2008.  He is a past member of several other boards including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Propeller Club of Jacksonville, Jacksonville University Alumni Board of Governors, and is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Jacksonville.

Donnie ran for the Florida House of Representatives in 2016, finishing third in a field of seven candidates in the District 11 Republican primary.  Widely quoted by the media, he was endorsed by numerous elected officials, civic, and business organizations.

Donnie earned his B.S. in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy where he was a member of the ice hockey and baseball teams. He was the recipient of the Naval Academy Athletic Association’s Club Sport Athlete of the Year award and the Donald Coats Award for excellence in Military Sociology. After graduation, he was stationed as an officer aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) where he served in various capacities during his tour. He was medically retired from military service after two years following his life-changing diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.  Donnie earned his M.B.A. from Jacksonville University in 2011.

Donnie is married to his wife, Kristen Horner. He enjoys reading, exercising, playing golf, and spending time with friends and family. The Horners are parishioners at Our Lady Star of the Sea where Donnie is a lector. They have a golden-doodle named Ellie and live in Jacksonville Beach.
