Crystal Freed

Managing Partner, The Freed Firm

Crystal Freed is an accomplished civil trial lawyer. She worked her way through her undergraduate and post-graduate studies, even owning and operating a Caribbean restaurant (an outgrowth of her Trinidadian roots) in Broward County, Florida. After graduating from the Georgetown University Law Center, she moved to Jacksonville to work for Akerman, representing clients in complex commercial matters. In 2007, she successfully ventured on her own and represented small businesses and startup enterprises. As the success of her firm grew, so did her desire to catalyze an anti-human trafficking movement. She did exactly that, while simultaneously representing pro bono clients who were trafficked for sex and labor in northeast Florida. While Crystal has been recognized locally (JBJ 40 top Under 40, the Atlantic Institute Community Service Award, Jacksonville Area Legal Aidís Outstanding Pro Bono Award) and state-wide (Floridaís Human Trafficking Summitís Community Advocate, FAWL Extraordinary Woman, FDLEís Unsung Hero, and the Florida Bar Presidentís Pro Bono Award) for both her work as a lawyer/advocate and her work combating child exploitation and human trafficking, she counts the accolades unseen by human eyes as the most valuable to her.

Growing up in poverty and domestic violence, Crystal understands the tremendous impact the arts can make on a child. After winning first place in last yearís DWTS competition, Crystal is excited to support the JCC once more - an organization she continues to see as giving hope while expanding the minds of all children. Crystal enjoys leading worship at her local church, reading, instructing Les Mills BodyCombat at her local YMCA and travelling internationally with her husband and two girls. Over the past year, Crystal took a sabbatical from legal practice to homeschool her youngest daughter. She considers motherhood her highest call and the year she spent teaching her daughter, an amazing privilege.
